Hi Laurie,

I like to teach power-pumping as mimicking a baby's periodic increased feeding frequency (cluster-feeding) during growth spurts, which is a great way to normalize cluster-feeding by the baby, as well as to normalize the need to periodically increase pumping frequency for increasing volume, particularly but not only in those who are exclusively-pumping.

Kelly Bonyata's tremendous resource, KellyMom.com, has a helpful page on that website entitled, "I'm Not Pumping Enough Milk. What Can I Do?". I especially like that she refers to "cluster-pumping". Here's link to that page: http://kellymom.com/hot-topics/pumping_decrease/

More frequent nursing and pumping is mentioned in a mother's response on La Leche League International's website here. Please see the comment
near the bottom of the page for information on more frequent pumping to increase volume. http://www.llli.org/nb/nbmayjun08p46.html

Nancy Mohrbacher also has a teaching sheet/infographic here, but am having difficulty enlarging it enough to see whether increased frequency is mentioned for increasing volume. http://www.noodlesoup.com/ProductImages/1532hr.jpg
