Joyce M,

Your concerns are certainly understandable. For the most part tho, parents do
the best they can with the information, resources, and support they have. You
can give all the right info and support at a given time, but some moms would
need you or someone equally supportive and knowledgable, to be at their side
24 hrs a day in order to be successful with breastfeeding. Some parents seek
advice until they hear what sounds right for them, *or* until they hear it in
a way that makes sense to them, *or* until they've heard the same advice
enough that they are convinced and satisfied with the answers. Working peds
for years, and having children of my own, taught me that mothers and fathers
seeking reassurance or second and other opinions is a normal part of
parenting. I see it as an admirable trait because it indicates concern for
the well-being of their children. It is a compliment to you that you are the
one that is often sought out for reassurance and a second opinion.
