Interesting. I often use my frozen milk if it is in the 6-9 month range,
but I do have some milk in my freezer that is over a year old, so did an
experiment today after reading your post. I found the same as you, that
the milk had a funny powdery film on it, and smelled a little funny
(this may have been my imagination as my hubby thought is smelled
normal), but my son saw me playing with his milk cubes and insisted on
having one. He has refused milk in the past that seemed to have turned
slightly, so I wanted to see his reaction. He ate it like a popsicle and
asked for another, quite thrilled to be getting it. He has shown no
signs of digestive upset. I suspect that like most other foods there is
an optimal freezer storage time, but that the milk doesn't just
automatically go bad at a certain time. I also suspect that while the
milk is 'not as good' after 6 months it is still safe to eat for a
significant time after that.

Purely anecdotal - not one ounce of science here...
