Dear Anne, I am aware of one mid west hospital that has a baby warmer in
the PP unit. It is keep warm all the time and wheeled into mom's room for
initial clean-up when parents request the bath. Done on parent's time
table, not nurses (oh my!). Some babies don't get a "bath" until after 24
hours. Moms and babies aren't separated at all unless it is a baby medical
neccessity. This seems to be working very well. P.S. all supplies for bath
are stored right in drawer of warmer and it is NOT a major inconvenience
for the nurses. Actually bath becomes a fun time, a teaching time as
parents observe and participate (oh my!) Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
