In my on-going endeavor to keep you apprised of the latest research, I came
across this piece of information. In a study of the effect of diet on the
longevity of fruit flies the following was discovered:

The switch [from a starvation diet to a full one]affected both the flies'
reproductive ability and their lifespan, Carey and colleagues found. While
on the starvation diet, the female flies were infertile, but once they
switched to the full diet, they began ovulating and reproducing. These
flies lived longer than both flies kept on the full diet exclusively and
those on kept on the starvation diet, the researchers found. The findings
suggest that delaying ovulation and reproduction may prolong life, Carey said.

``All mammals are endowed with a certain number of eggs, and these are
depleted through life,'' he added. ``If you can arrest that, that (may be)
the key to stopping aging.''

Do any of you have any idea of how a woman can suppress ovulation in order
to "arrest the depletion of her store of eggs"????
