Subject: New media rule for negative breastfeeding stories announced

Anyone else heard about the new, voluntary and self-imposed rule agreed
upon by all the major international news agencies? It states that no
news items denigrating breastfeeding will be run before they have been
1) fact-checked by WABA for accuracy and 2) background checked by an
independent media watchdog organization to ensure the stories are free
of dubious corporate influence. An unnamed spokesperson for this
organization, whose existence has not been generally known before today,
said they have plans for extra efforts to be in place in the period
leading up to World Breastfeeding Week as "this is when we typically see
a rash of stories purporting to show that breastfeeding is unnecessary
and that its role in health is overrated."
