(Please forgive me if this has already been answered-I've been out
of town a couple days and am catching up.)
There are published standards for perinatal care by both ACOG and
AAP.  I believe the question of separation for fever is covered
there.  If I remember correctly, it isn't a blanket separation for
any fever, but there are some further guidelines and precautions to
take when baby is with a fevered mom.
