Thanks Carol for your responce. Mom took baby to ped. yesterday and he was
down 8 oz from birth weight. The Ped wasn't too concerned and said the baby
could get down 12 oz. before he would start to be concerned. He also said he
had had several moms lately who just couldn't make enough milk. When the mom
asked why, he didn't know! The OB does not feel that it is a retained
placenta but is due to the wet tap and the fact the mom hasn't been able to
stay flat for 24 hours. He says because of the wet tap the need for fluids to
rebuild cerebral fluid is great at the expense of making milk. He also told
her she should supplement with formula when she felt she needed to. I
suggested again that she attempt to use the SNS, even if she is having to lie
flat. Carol, what kind of blood hormone tests should I suggest to determine
if there is a placenta fragment? Carol, I will call her today and suggest
that she ask the OB for reglan. Thanks for your help.
