Ilene,
You certainly shouldn't be embarrassed about posting. Some of my most
memorable clients have been those struggling with yeast. They are quite
often very trying, becoming what I call "frequent callers." No wonder, since
yeast is often stubborn and difficult to get rid of. Not to mention that
they are in horrible pain! And this certainly does sound like yeast.
"Shards of glass inside" is a common complaint with yeast. I, too, am having
clients call me back to report that their OB's are giving 5 day TX with
Diflucan. Wonder where they are getting that info?? It would help to give
her a copy of the info from Dr. Hale or Dr. Jack, citing TX for 2-3 weeks.
You didn't mention anything about TX for the baby. Both need to be treated.
Mom should be able to get her ped to give prescription for Nystatin. You
might want to suggest Gentian Violet as well, since it is available without
prescription, cheap, easy, quick, and generally works well. I usually refer
moms to Dr. Jack's info on this. You can also give her his info on the APNO
(All Purpose Nipple Ointment).
