Amy, I had a couple of questions. And also, for anyone else who is familiar with this subject.

When do you assess that a baby would need to see a SLP rather than just suggesting sucking exercises? Do SLP's see babies who need to learn to suck better after a tongue-tie revision? I would assume that a baby with low tone or genetic disorders that affect their ability to suck, would benefit from the help of a SLP but I am wondering if there are other babies who also benefit from this kind of help.

Also, I didn't know that about bottle teats and flow. I thought I could tip a bottle over to see how drippy it was and that would indicate flow. I'm so glad that you posted that. How *do* I determine flow? Is it a matter of watching baby use the bottle? Currently, I am just recommending the bottles that you suggested when mom needs a slow flow bottle but it would be nice to be able to assess bottles that mom is using.

I agree that this topic is fascinating
