This was in the Stuart News (my local paper) today! This is my response to a
good bf article that was printed two weeks ago. You could also check out the
original article at stuartnews.com , search breastfeeding. The second
"article" is the list of websites I referred to.

My point of sharing this with you is to show you how the newspaper editors
change things. You can see they spelled breastfeeding with the dash. I
didn't put the dash in. I also prefer a more formal signature with the
initials MD,FAAFP,IBCLC and spelled it all out for them. You could see how
the editor interpreted who I am.

Reader stresses importance of breast-feeding

Editor:

I would like to commend you highly for the article "American mothers still
not breast-feeding enough" (Nov. 7). I could not have summed up the benefits
of breast-feeding and the barriers to achieving higher breast-feeding rates
any better.

Martin County has a better than average breast-feeding initiation rate but
low breast-feeding rate at three months. I liked the Web sites you listed. I
have visited most of them myself previously.

I would like to add more Web sites to the list www.breastfeeding.com and
www.lalecheleague.org.

Also, to help our local families get breast-feeding help, I would like you
to know that there are four board certified lactation consultants in Martin
County: at Martin Memorial in Stuart, the Women's Center in Stuart, the
Health Department and myself.

There is also a free La Leche League meeting monthly at the Women's Center.
We are all very dedicated to helping mothers achieve their breast-feeding
goals. Thank you very much for your support in helping our local families.
