I just wanted to comment on the "new pumps" displayed at the ILCA conference.
 I hope I am not breaking any rules by mentioning the manufacturer but they
are the Whittlestone pumps.  I had never heard of them before but I
understand that they have been around for a while.  However, the displayed
model is the new and improved version of the pump.  The pump does not work in
the conventional way the most popular pumps work. By that I mean suction is
not the main mechanism of removing milk from the breast.  The Whittlestone
has more of a "milking" action that sort of massages the nipple/areolar areas
with some suction.  I think it is very interesting and I am eager to get a
demo to compare.  I have my own private practice and rental station.  My
husband (who was raised on a dairy farm) has mentioned that my pumps should
be made more like the ones on the farm that massaged the teats.  Funny that
someone else came up with the idea.
