Thank you Ros for sharing your belief about slow weaning being the most
important thing a mother can do to reduce the risk of "drooping".  I'm an
avid believer in this myself.  And I share your views on the bra-thing. To
go a little further,  my personal hunch is that engorgement (at any time,
whether post-partum or during fast weaning) may just be so damaging to
breast tissue that it may be one of the risk-factors for breast cancer
later.  We have lots of research on the lower risk of breast cancer when
women breastfeed, but does anyone know of any studies which might show if
there is a relationship between breast engorgement and subsequent breast
cancer, perhaps decades later?  And might there be an even lower risk of
breast cancer if there has been no history of breast engorgement?
