I am so upset. My mom with the 24 wk triplets (doing pretty well) asked
the neonatologist if he would help her to get bm from a milk bank. We
have a brand new one, in Austin Texas. He proceeded to all but call her
an unfit mother for even considering this! He told her that the milk
could be very dangerous, might give the babies Hep. C and who knows what
else and that he was appalled that she would even consider such a
thing. Meanwhile, the largest baby had to stop his 1 cc formula feeds
because he wasn't digesting it! The babies have all been transfused as
well.

He told her that the antibodies would be lost during freezing and
thawing, so why even bother?

Can any of you help me with some brief, concise info I can pass on to
try to educate him quickly? Doctors, is there some way you can help,
perhaps directly?

Thanks so much for any assistance.
