>>>Mr. JOE SANDERS (Executive Director, American Academy of
Pediatrics):

reason<<<

Has anyone else ever noticed the use of "young mother" as opposed to
mother or new mother in a lot of comments by AAP leadership on this
issue? It's a disempowering phrase that hearkens back to the fifties.
What is a "young mother" anyway? Is there a cutoff age ;-)?

Katie, age 36 with a 12 year old, and 8 year old, and a 5 year old. Am
I a young mother? An old mother? A middling mother?
