Dear Lactnetters:

I am looking for compelling studies that someone has at their fingertips to show it is recommended that breastfeeding be continued throughout neonatal physiological jaundice and that withholding breastfeeding/breastmilk is not usually indicated. I shared information from Dr. Gantner's October 11th USLCA webinar as well as Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine's recommendation and protocol including various references. The individual replied he has found no "compelling" evidence that supports feeding with maternal milk through neonatal jaundice. You may email me offline, if you prefer.

Thanking all in advance for any help/advice/ammo, etc.

Janet M. Godshall, RN,IBCLC
