This is a good question... and I don't suppose there are any studies out on
this. I guess what I expect to see would DEFINITELY be more than just a
smear (skid-marks just don't count!); probably around 1-3 tablespoons per
poop for the first couple of weeks. I wonder just what the *normal* volume
is for what my eye says is a reasonable-sized poop. I suspect that the
principle of *it's less than it looks* (like with the volume of spit-up)
might apply; possibly in reverse (more than what it appears to be???). So...
anyone know of any studies on *normal* volume of breastfed baby poop during
the first few weeks?
