I think Counseling The Nursing Mother by Judith Lauwers and Candace Woessner
(available from Avery Publishing Group Inc., Garden City Park, New York) is an
essential reference for peer counselors. Not only does it emphasize counseling
skills, it also has well-thought out questions at the end of each chapter to
guide the student as she progresses through the book.
I have strongly encouraged women who want to lead MILC (Mothers Inviting Loving
Comfort) Christian breastfeeding groups to work through this manual carefully.
