unless this kid has only partially compromised pancreas and does not yet have
full blown diabetes(???if that is even possible), it seems kind of unlikely.
IMHO kid would be *losing* weight, not just poor wt gain, and 11 months is a
long time to be wondering.  Can't they just test hhis urine for sugar?  If it
was my kid I would get a second opinion/blood test if I was worried about it.

May be some other FTT going on here.  THere are 7 "classic" symptoms of
diabetes, wt loss, thirst,frequent urination, are the only 3 I remembr off the
top of my head, though, and they are careful to say that not everyone has
"classic" symtoms.  Blood test/glucose challenge is only definitive test,
urine is not very sensitive one.
