> What if the study from South Africa that showed that *exclusive*
breastfeeding by HIV positive mothers resulted in less infection by HIV of
their babies than exclusive formula feeding or mixed feeding were confirmed
by other studies?

Would child protection agencies take babies away from HIV positive mothers
who refused to breastfeed?<

Interesting thought, Jack. In practice, I doubt it, and in any case, what
we have been calling for is for women diagnaosed with HIV to have the right
to cntinue to make the choice on how to feed their babies, so actually it
wouldn't be what I could fight for (though I continue to think there are
things we need to fight for re: HIV). HOwever, can I quote this thought in
a few weeks, when I am due to talk at a breastfeeding conference day to ca.
200 people about breastfeeding and HIV??

Thanks,
