I hope you don't mind one more post about dairy allergies. I loved reading
the succinct ways several people had of saying what I believe to be true and
citing ample evidence in their own practice and experience to back it up.
Patricia was right when she said that mothers and babies don't have time to
wait for the research to "prove" the validity of our advice on this subject.
Twelve years ago, my daughter needed help *immediately*, not when all the
evidence was in. The nights are long when your baby can't sleep!
One more thought on this subject. My 12 yo who is now lactose intolerant, has
to have a Dr's note stating this before the school cafeteria will substitute
something for the milk on her lunch tray! It's a state law, they tell me!
I can and often do send something with her to drink instead, but she often
forgets it or we run out. This is truly *a lot of trouble*! So I've now sent
Acidophilus tablets to the school nurse for her to take at school. Does it
strike anyone else as incredible that such a law exists, and I'm sure IN is
not the only state with such a law. I guess I understand the reasoning but I
find it intrusive to be told what my child HAS to drink for lunch. Wish I
had the time and energy to fight this one. Ah, well...... BTW, we did have
such a Dr's. note at my daughter's last school, but we've moved and my
previous Dr. isn't great about getting things back to me. Everywhere you
look, there are more battles to be waged. Lactnet saves me from feeling like
I'm the only one out here. There is strength in numbers!
