Thank you for your posts.

Would it make a difference if the baby in question is very premature?

The baby was born Jan 2, 2005 and has been hospitalized. recently baby transferred from big hospital to the local community hospital; expects to bring baby home in 2 or 3 weeks. Mom has been pumping right along.
I wonder if the docs are concerned because the baby was so premature and may be extra susceptible to any virus. It would be especially stressful if baby were discharged in good health and got very sick as soon as he went home.

Would prematurity be a factor in this case?

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Elaine Mazgelis, RD, IBCLC
