Mary asks about a dressing for a breast abscess...

Mary in my experience I've just used a dry dressing changed frequently -
because it gets wet so frequently.  It should not be packed at this stage.
Generally they heal very quickly.
Yes, no dressing would also be appropriate - but may be a bit messy.  For
it to cause so much pain when changing I can only imagine that it is being
packed..?  The dressing I am suggesting just sits on the top.

Pump and dump hey?  Well unless there is substantially more information
that we don't know about this case I can't imagine ANY reason why she
should pump and dump.  Put the baby to the breast and let him feed.  If she
can use a pump on that breast then she can put the baby to it.
