I think the membrane is porous, because when the Medela rep showed me how to clean it, she said it was porous. I had pointed out that a membrane should make the system a closed one, but she advised me that the membrane is porous and therefore the system cannot be considered closed. How porous porous is I have no idea, though I admit, I am curious...
