I've been looking for a single reference I can cite to show that breastfeeding duration rates are very poor in all of the Western world....I thought I'd fourn it when I discovered the Unicef publication "the state of the worlds children." which contains a fabulous table that has exclusive bf at < 6 months, breastfeeding with complementary foods ar 6-9 months and breastfeeding at 20-23 months. Easy, I thought.... but then I started looking down the table, on my brief glance no Western developed nation has actually provided these stats to Unicef! ARGH!!!! obviously they do not think that it is important and I know that lots of these countries don't actually have the stats to give them, others just counldn't be bothered passing what they have on.
I'm very frustrated! Anyone know of a publication that gives breastfeeding stats for developed countries??
