As a child of Hungarian grandparents, I used to puzzle over this term and
wonder if I, who probably had an ancestor in the "Mongol hordes that
invaded Europe" (Heaven knows where I picked that up, but I used to pore
over the Encyclopedia Brittanica), was Mongolian in the same sense that a
child with Down's Syndrome was "mongolian."  I broached the subject to my
best friend, but we couldn't puzzle it out.

The term makes no sense.
