A member on the list mentioned bottled water for mixing formula during an evacuation.  I'd like to note that bottle water must be boiled for infant, because it can contain a bacterial load that is _higher_ than most municipal water.  

We're finding this a local problem as parents of formula fed babies believe that using bottled water will save the fuss of boiling.  It doesn't.  And boiling is still important for young infants.  

Alternate recommendation is a _few_ cans of ready to serve with long expiry dates in case of emergency.

And on the other note...

At our baby drop-in several of my exclusively breastfeeding Moms were positively gleeful over the fact that they hadn't had to worry for a second about their babies during the blackout or now, while we have intermittent rolling blackouts with no warning.  The formula feeding moms moaned about having to throw out formula and get new.  Fortunately they were in the room at the same time.
