Well, Jane Seymour, the actress, has finally vindicated herself on the BF
issue.  Last Saturday's episode was about Dr. Quinn's conflicts around
being a working mother and having a nursing baby.  Her clinic partner
suggests using 'one of those new infant formulas' (made of cow's milk,
sugar, water and pot ash [to reduce acidity]).  She discusses this with
her husband and they decide to think about it as an option only when she
must be away from the baby.  However, she tests the formula and the baby
cries and is very upset afterwards.  She finally admits that she really
should have gone with her 'heart' about the use of formula, which is that
it is NOT a good substitute for mother's milk (which is according to one
of her medical texts, 'God's intended food for babies').  Instead, she
decides to take it one day at a time, and have the baby taken care of
nearby so that she can breastfeed when necessary, and to work less hours,
but to continue working and being a nursing mother, both.

There are many scenes (at least 3) in the episode where she actually
(discreetly and without baring any breast) breastfeeds the baby!

I really have to applaud the network for their courage on this one, for a
change!  And I bet Jane Seymour had to lobby real hard for this plot line!
