Sagoli (Oneida for hello),

I agree with Karleen's response about so much information being US-based.
I'm in Canada and our - everything - seems to be dominated by American
media and American ideas.

It seems most talks at conferences deal with issues which affect
Americans, not anyone else. I can think of 2 reasons. 1) most people who
attend are American and that's where the money is and 2) most people who
attend are American and can understand the language of conference topics
and see their issues in the conferences.

If we want ILCA to grow into other nations and cultures, maybe more talks
or journal articles from those nations and cultures should have a more
paramount place in the worldwide discussion? People want to know they are
heard...or even, just seen ... in the wider context.

Talk with those on the outside. Listen to those on the outside. Hear it
from their context.

Being an LC is about healing is so many ways. We should use that spirit of
healing to learn from those whose voices are not heard.
