We have a growing population of East Indians in our area, and I have noted
that I have seen a great number of them with problems with low milk supply.
Has anyone else noted this and what do you recommend? I have a mother of
37 wk twins now who have had a >10% wt loss,so of course the pediatrician
recommended formula supplements. Mom had a c/s, did not have a lrg. EBL,
was not anemic, throid functioning was normal. I had her double pumping after
each nursing session the 4 days she was in the hospital and she was only
getting a few gtts. She started fenugreek supplements, nursing q 2-3 hr
(babies are now latching well), pumping 4-5X day and @10 days she is still
only getting 5-6cc when pumping. I would welcome any other suggestions!
Pam
