I say, "Hear hear" to Sarah's excellent post about anesthesia for BF moms.
If there is to be even a token "pumping and dumping" she wrote, "if mom
can't bear to throw milk away, she can certainly save it and think about
feeding it later or even mixing it with 'non-anesthetized milk' so that
whatever may be present will be diluted quite a bit."

I shudder when I hear "pump and dump." It makes breastmilk seem so
inconsequential. I like to say "Pump, label and freeze" whenever a mother
is being pressured to p&d, unless it is one of the rare L5 meds. This
helps everyone to recognize and value the precious resource that expressed
milk is. By labeling (date of pumping and medication involved) and
immediately freezing, mom is not likely to grab the "wrong" bottle from
the fridge.
