Oh my goodness! I WANT this pedi!!!!!
All these postings of personal and professional experiences with scale tipping
breast fed babies and children have really been bringing me down (just a
little) as three of my four children are and have been the exception. My 27
month old who still is breastfeeding barely tips the scales at 22 pounds
despite being 7# 10 at birth. She has a tremendous appetite for a two year old
too. Our pedi, while supportive of my extended nursing and my IBCLC studies,
really questions this and is very concerned about somehow increasing the
child's caloric intake to the point that he had me keep a food diary for a
week. I had to do the same with my second daughter as well(different pedi at
the time). Everytime he expresses concern about her size I keep reminding him
to look at her sisters' growth charts. I also comment that maybe if she wasn't
moving furniture for fun then maybe she wouldn't be so skinny! LOL
Personally I feel that she, as her sisters are fine, but I can't help but
worry a little especially when I hear of and see so many roly-poly
breastfeeding poster children! I wonder, what do y'all tell the moms with
skinny breastfed babies who are receiving adequate nourishment? Just curious.
