My biggest problem with doxycycline, which may be peculiar to
myself, is that it is the one antibiotic that has given me almost
immediate, severe vaginal yeast infections both times I used it.
Even after emergency abdominal surgery and mega antibiotics,
including gentamycin, I never got any yeast but a few days on doxy
for a tooth infection and I had yeast like crazy. So I would be very
much on the lookout for yeast or maybe even treat prophylactically
for it if the mom uses doxy. Better yet, I would ask for an
alternative antibiotic.
