Check the archives for Dr. Leeper's answer to this. Her suggestion that worked for the mom I was helping was to protect the nipple from even the chilling of evaporation by covering it with clothing immediately after it comes out of the baby's mouth, and apply a dry, warmth, such as a warm heating pad every time to counteract the spasm tendency of the blood vessels. The mom I was helping got an Rx for nifedipine and it did nothing but make her cheeks pink. I didn't know that perhaps refills for a time of two might have helped. Try the protection, from AC, from breezes, from fans, from evaporation of saliva, etc. and warm heating pad.
