We use the handwashing sinks in the patients' room - supplied with anti-
bacterial soap (infection control says this is fine!). Pump kits are rinsed
thorughly and then air-dried. We also issue moms a "Quick Clean Micro-
Steam Bag" to be used once daily. These bags claim to disinfect (not
sterilize) and kill 99.9% of most harmful bacteria and germs. Breastmilk is
not considered a biohazard! We recommend staff use gloves when handling
breastmilk to protect the BREASTMILK! not the caregiver. Hope this helps!
