jack is of course completely correct about how the written consent can be
made worthless with a few threats from hospital staff. but, this is america,
the land of the free and the home of the lawsuit, and having little pieces of
paper that were not signed, signed under coercion, signed without giving
adequate information, etc., will help open the doors to that enforcer of
social norms, the multimillion dollar lawsuit.
