Hi Kathleen,

I use a fish scale type made by Chatillion and available through Cascade
birthing supplies at 1-800-443-99-42 to weigh newborns. It works with
flannel slings that hook onto the scale. I always have someone spot the baby
when I use it. Cascade sells the slings. They are sometimes sold at
midwifery conferences as well. It weighs up to 12 pounds/ 6 kilograms.

For larger babies I use an American Family home scale that measures in
increments of ounces and weighs up to 30 pounds. It has been consistent with
MDs scales although it is not intended for trade.

I use these for midwifery and well baby care.

Sincerely,
Lisa Boisvert-Mackenzie, Midwife
