Greetings fellow lactnetters:

It seems that we are really having a lot of babies with sucking difficulties
as of late. Moms are flocking to us with bleeding, scabbed nipples, and
complain that baby won't latch on right. Often, the initial latch is shallow
and sometimes uncoordinated. We are training a new LC who was a former labor
and delivery nurse. I jokingly asked, what's going on back there - we're
seeing so many babies with uncoordinated sucks. She said that many of the
anesthesiologists are now adding fentanyl to the epidural doses of regular
meds. Would this be causing this?

Thanks for your input.
