I have been telling moms that if they are considering Depo-Provera, they
might consider trying the mini-pill for a month first to see if it affects
their milk supply.
With the pill, if supply decreases, they can simply stop taking it, but with
the Depo, it's in there for 3 months. But when I mentioned this to one of
the OBs at the hospital, she said it wasn't a valid test since the two
contraceptives use different forms of progesterone. Does anyone know
anything about this? Any of you doctors or pharmacists? I would hate to be
giving misinformation. Thanks. Miriam Levitt RN, IBCLC <[log in to unmask]>
