When this was done where I worked it was even worse!  Not only was the MJ salesman (I refuse to call them "reps") there and providing goodies, but at the end of the film he got up, held up one of their 3 0z bottles and said, as closely as I can recdall, "Please remember that these educational offerings are only possible because of your (the nurses) use of this product, whether feeding an infant or giving moms our "gift" bags.  Each time you do, it helps us be able to bring you more inservices (and assumedly the tasty baked goodies)."  I'm sure those in the room could see the smoke coming from my ears.  In hindsight, I wish I had capitalized more on his comments to show the nurses how their "gifts" are really sales tricks.  I did mention it to a few in the days after the inservice, but most still denied that it had any influence on what they gave babies and moms....Right!
