Hi,

Yes, but is it safe for an asthmatic? Not that the drug itself will
probably do any harm, but as a chronic asthmatic myself I know that
night coughing can be a dangerous symptom. I have always been told that
it is potentially dangerous to take a cough suppressant if the cough is
actually a modified form of wheezing (as adult asthmatics tend to get).
Suppressing that cough could be covering up the problem. My advice to
this woman would be to get a second opinion and thorough assessment re.
her asthma, with a pulmonologist. The hormonal changes of pregnancy can
really upset the stability of asthma, and undiagnosed or underdiagnosed
asthma is really dangerous. Sorry if this is off-topic, but I felt it
was important.
