Does anyone have experience working with women with a silicone implant? Our
client had a rare disorder where one breast did not mature and had a
silicone implant about seventeen years ago. She has not had any symptoms
from the implant. She's also had surgery to her other breast, but no
implant. She just gave birth four days ago and seems to be producing
colostrum/milk in both breasts. She is feeding at the breast first, then
supplementing with a SNS at breast. Our concerns are: will she continue to
need to supplement? Is there any danger to the baby in feeding from the
side with an implant? Is she at higher risk of her implant being damaged
with changes in her breast tissue & pumping & breastfeeding? She's hoping
to have the silicone implant replaced by a saline implant eventually because
of the problems reported with silicone implants. Any comments would be
appreciated. Thanks!
