A while back many of you helped me when I asked about how to set up a pumping room for our employees. Many thanks to those of you who gave me great ideas. We will have our room soon but I have more questions.
For those of you who work in an institution (ours is a hospital) and have a special room for employees to pump milk.... do any of you have a protocol? Because of employees leaving their work stations or floors to go and pump we thought it best to have a protocol that lays out for the managers the general expectations of the employees absence during pumping. Currently, the managers all approach it differently as their employees find a place to pump and time to do it. Some have been great about it and others have given the employee a hard time. I would like to avoid that and have a protocol that is supportive of the pumping employee without leaving it open to abuse of the break. Do any of you extend the "legal" breaks at all to allow sufficient time to travel to the pumping room, pump, and get back? What are some other pitfalls that I can try to avoid.
The other thing I am thinking about is including expectations as to how the employee with clean up after themselves.

Any ideas or experiences are welcomed!
