I have been thinking about something my colleagues and I were discussing
quite some time ago and I would be interested in others' experiences as
well.

I have always been aware that it amazes me that in my community as a
whole, our obstetricians are 100% supportive of breastfeeding (and discuss
it with their pregnant ladies as well). On the other hand I would have to
say that our pediatricians are not. It's not that there are not supportive
peds, but they are not nearly as gung ho about supporting b'feeding as the
OB's are. I find that a sad situation. Those who are do a great job, but
that's it.

In general, what are some of the rest of you finding with those two groups
of HCP's in your area.

Those of us in the inpatient setting probably have the advantage of seeing
a larger group of HCP's in one place. It might be easier to observe and
make a judgement about this.

has anyone looked at the AAP website lately? they ahve a ton of new stuff
(including a powerpoint) on breastfeeding and much of it is aimed at
educating the HCP. It's about time.
