I first saw my fattest baby across a crowded room (la la la la la laa)
- just her arm over her father's shoulder. My jaw hit the floor, and
I *knew* I was seeing a metabolic problem. When I saw the whole baby,
I knew for sure. She was *immense* - 50 lb, I later learned, at a
year. It turns out they went from dr to dr, and finally ended up with
Allan Cunningham, whom some of you may know.

The diagnosis? "You have a healthy baby. Enjoy her."

Then there was the one who couldn't use teething toys that didn't have
points; her cheeks were so fat she couldn't get simple rings in her
mouth. She's now about 3 yo and looks like all the other kids.

I always like knowing a healthy baby way out on the tail end of any
curve - the baby who stools once a day from birth, who stools once
every 20-some days, who nurses 5 min every 4 hours from birth, who
can't eat solids until puberty. It makes all the rest of the curve
seem so... *normal*.
