I posted this info to LN before, so should be in the archives. Joan
Fisher spoke at the ILCA conf in Boca Raton and she did talk about using
LactAid drops for babies in conjunction with an elimination diet where
that alone didn't completely fix the problem. The gtts to use should be
in the archives and were either added to EBM or put on baby's tongue at
the start of nursing. She gave several case studies, which were quite
interesting and where this course seemed to help. For a few babies,
though, the blood and mucus didn't stop completely, but all other
symptoms did and baby grew quite well, so it was not deemed to be a
problem in need of further fixing. She mentions that this does tend to
run in families and that sometimes when moms have gone on an elimination
diet for their baby, they have had some remediation of their own
symptoms, like eczema, as a result! You can probably get the tape from
ILCA. The session was "Managing Breastfeeding in Difficult
Maternal-Child Medical Situations."
