Hello,
Wondering if those working in the hospital setting have information about
resource for feeding tube and syringe system to use for finger feeding or supplementing at
the breast. We had been using the enteral tubes and syringes from a major pump company.
One of our NICU staff was concerned that this was not an approved use and contacted this company.
They replied with a letter stating that they do not approve the enteral feeding tube and syringe system
for oral feeding but instead recommend their supplemental nursing system product.

Do any of you have a resource for feeding tube and syringe system approved for oral use? The supplemental
nursing system product can be very useful for larger feeding amounts as baby requires on day 3 and beyond, but
are not very satisfactory for smaller amounts such as 5-20 ml as appropriate for day 1-2. We do have 1 ml and 3 ml
oral syringes available to use, but once again- not so great when needing to supplement 10-20 ml per feeding- especially
not so easy to supplement at the breast.

We do have the curved tip oral syringes, but once again have faced concern from NICU staff about safety of the hard tip for finger
feeding or supplementing at the breast.

Would love to hear what you are using.

Thank you,

Teresa
