Hello,

My name is Gail Storr and I lurked for several months on Lactnet then
had to go no mail because of academic demands but am now back. I am
a nursing professor at the University of New Brunswick in Atlantic
Canada (next to the state of Maine for all you Americans). I just
finished a $70,000 project funded by Health Canada and administered
by a local Lions Club. The project involved a quantitative and
qualitative approach to determining feeding patterns in our province
and barriers to breastfeeding. We partnered with the Lions Club to
give the project high visibility. An Advisory Committee of 20 health
professionals and lay personnel steered the project and we have come
up with several recommendations for the protection, promotion and
support of breastfeeding in our province. The report has gone to
the federal and provincial health ministers and I am trying to get
meetings with them to discuss the recommendations.

Meanwhile the President of my university has talked to the people
from Kraft Foods and they are interested in making a sizable
($20-25,000 per year for five years) contribution to the university
in developing educational materials for good foods for young
children. Naturally I think of breastfeeding promotion and want to
try to access at least some of the money!! Now my problem I have a
meeting with the President this afternoon - he just approached me
yesterday and I need to know if Kraft is a WHO Code violater. I
called ACtion for Accountability in New Haven and there was no one
there with an answer right then. I have tried INFACT Canada all
morning and get no answer and suddenly I remembered Lactnet. I set
my self to mail receive again and hope that someone out there can
help me. It is almost noon N.B. time and my meeting with the
President is scheduled for 4:00. Hope someone can help me!!

Thanks

Gail
