Ooh, the blood in my legal-lobbying-political veins boils as I learn of the
should-we-really-be-surprised attempts to gut the BF ad campaign. Here's my
missive:

The Honorable Tommy Thompson
Secretary, US Dept of HHS
200 Independence Avenue, SW
Room 639-G
Washington, DC 20201

Dear Secretary Thompson:

Breastfeeding: It’s Too Important Not To.

Surely you are in a position to support HHS’s Office on Women’s Health
Information Center, as it seeks to implement the 2000 HHS Blueprint for
Action on Breastfeeding, through its public awareness campaign about the
importance of breastfeeding.

Surely the public policy-motivated imperative of your oath of office, to
serve the interest of the health of all Americans, can withstand the
profit-motivated lobbying by the formula manufacturers, in their
business-as-usual attempts to obfuscate the simple message of the planned
public service ads.

Please assure me that the ads will be allowed to go forward, as soon as
possible, with no editorial revisions provided by the entities who make
money when babies drink artificial milk.

                                        Sincerely,

                                        Elizabeth C. Brooks
