This is my first post to Lactnet, having lurked for quite some time.
My suggestion to Moms who forget their cooling packs is to go to the cafeteria
and get a cup of ice with a lid and set that in the cooling compartment.
I also tell Moms to keep a couple of ziplock bags in the pump. they can be
used to put dirty pump parts in to transport home if the mom can't wash hers,
put ice in when you forget the cooling units, and put milk in if you find
yourself needing to pump more then the 4 bottles in the PNS. I work with alot
of Moms who travel on their jobs and find that fast food places also will give
you a bag of ice.
I am an IBCLC in private practice in Eastern NC, a LLLI Peer Counselor
Training Specialist who worked in public health breastfeeding programs for 9
yrs ( until funding cutbacks forced me out).
